The Louis Vuitton Foundation presents a major retrospective devoted to the work and career of the painter Mark Rothko (1903-1970). Organized chronologically, it highlights the evolution of the American artist, from his figurative beginnings to his paintings dominated by abstraction. Urban landscapes or intimate explorations, inspirations from ancient myths or surrealism, this exhibition-event brings together 115 works from the largest public and private collections, from the National Gallery of Art in Washington to the Tate Gallery in London via the collections of the artist’s family.
